Macaria Romero Cárdenas

Macaria holds a bachelor in Communication Sciences, a Master in Christian Counselling, a Specialization in Marriage and Family,
and trainings in CBT, Schema Therapy, and Gottman Marriage.
She is a member of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists of Ontario, and of the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario.
She offers counselling, psychotherapy, psycho-education, and conferences.
Macaria works with individuals, couples and families to deal with their issues. She supports clients to be healed from past experiences;
to find healthy and productive ways to live their lives; to see themselves, others and the world from a healthier perspective;
to improve their relationships with themselves, others and God; and to reach their goals, among other things.
She applies a Christian perspective while using different psychological approaches.
She has worked with clients feeling stress, anxiety, guilt, depression, anger, isolation and shame;
supported clients with issues such as sexual abuse, trauma, emotional abuse, low self-esteem, abandonment, communication and relationship issues,
forgiveness and codependency; worked with couples experiencing issues related to communication, marital roles, abuse, infidelity,
divorce, and parenting issues; and assisted clients struggling with spiritual issues, among others.
Macaria is a counsellor/therapist who has worked with clients diagnosed with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety and posttraumatic stress disorder.
She serves clients in English and Spanish, and understands immigrants because she is an immigrant.
She has worked as a journalist in mass media; as a director of communications, public relations and human development’s departments;
and as a general coordinator of non-for-profit organizations. She is married and enjoys spending time with her family, reading and watching movies.
Macaria sees her clients in down town office as well as in our North York office.
